Cape York Day 9

WEDNESDAY 26th JUNE 2013
Today we are heading to Vrilya Point. We made our way down the 27km to the turn off then down a road that was supposed to take 1 hr it took us 2. It was very bumpy and slow. The 10km along the beach was soft. Ron got a little stuck,Dave followed but Ron got out. They aired down and made the rest easy.We stopped and looked around the lightship wreak which had alot of fish and crabs hanging around it. It was late in the day so not many camp sites left so we found a little nook down the end, it was good except for the smoke from our next camps fire going day/night. The arvo was great we had a huge cheese and dip platter and Ej made sand Taco with flower garnish and we had the best look out over the beach. What a great day. It truly is a beautiful coast line.

Cape York Day 7

MONDAY 24th JUNE 2013     THE TIP
Today we are making our final trek to the tip.
We are going via punsand bay the on a 4x4 track around back to join the road to the tip. We turn off just passed the croc tent souvenirs a plenty in there. We have a quick look at Punsands Bay then on to the 4x4 track. Its a good run with 3 or 4 water crossings in which the girls all drove one.  With rain on and off we get back to the main track and come to Pijinka which is now taken over by the jungle but would have been a beautiful resort in its hey day. Not far now the excitement builds. We are at the carpark and embark on our final walking leg over the rocks to the tip. Wish i had of known there was full telstra  i could of checked in lol.  Jordie did this for us all how ever as he is rarely without his. In between a spot of showers we climbed the rock until we were finally there. Jordie,Ron Lou and josh had a jack Daniels. and Ange a bottle of bubble to celebrate even if it was hot. It was great fun sharing this with my family ,then some group fam pic and few oddies then a big group shot.
With our trek half done time to head back. We stop at Pijinka and explore a little more sooo sad. With lunch done we head home as we have dinner being cooked for us by the owner of the park and need to be there by 6.
Dinner is brought right to our camp and it was yummy.,
After a huge day we sit around and all head to bed.

SUNDAY 23rd JUNE 2013       ALAU BEACH-UMAGICO
Today we head for Seisa. We arrive at the Jardine Ferry just before lunch and make across easy. I picked up a flyer which was advertising Alau Beach-umagico. We decide to drive by on our way to loyaly or punsands. When turn into early and are in the aboriginal community of Injinoo, I thought at first the locals were friendly oh no they weren't waving they were telling us were to go. Its such a shame to see a beautiful coastal spot in ruins and messy in which could be a very beautful  spot. We then head to try find this Alau beach i find directions on the back in through Umagico mmmm much the same as Injinoo poor half dead dogs everywhere and little toddlers in nappies playing in the gutters, but much to our surprise we come up over a hill and turn the bend to the beach and its a surprise a beaut spot so we stay. We decide to stay 3 days/ and base our selves here for our runs to the tip and somerset. A lovely park and no none reflective= stuff.lol.

Cape York Day 5

SATURDAY 22nd JUNE 20113    ELIOT FALLS/FRUIT BAT FALLS
Up early eat breaky then we all head down to show dave and crew the saucepan we are swimming by 10am such beautiful weather. After saucepan we head around to Eliot/twin falls this is also a stunning falls and swimming area after cooling under the waterfalls and swimming we head back for lunch and on to fruit bat Falls. this place is amazing the water so clear and we all cool off again and get massages under the falls. after drying off we head to the OTT to look at gunshot. As we pass canel creek which we have done a few times the boys decide to do what is meant to be the chicken run. Down we went although wheels ended up off the ground we all did it. Bren's attempt to get up failed as did Ronny's Davids turn however had the Pajero walk up much to Brenden and Ron's disgust. He even did it again to show it wasn't a flook. So we but that down to Dave's car having diff locks.LOL.
So on to the gunshot by pass this little creek is pretty but the gunshot is mad as. We all had a paddle and the younger boys all did pole vaulting with bamboo  into the creek. After our fun we all did the chicken run, bren easy, Ron in the mighty prado dinted a rear panel boo hoo but made it, david made it look to easy. so back via the other bypass we head to camp sunset fall and we arrived back in the darkness. A top day all round even after my keniphons at canel creek.

If we can do it we will continue on the OTT. About 30 kms past bramwell Davids Pajero went into limp mode boy were we all pissed off none more than Dave as he could see this as the end of his trip. He kicked his foot into the door and revved the f out of the motor we were crying as we waved him goodbye. He so was looking forward to this trip. The mood changed some what we were all so disappointed. As Dash said "mum we are a soilder down ". To true little buddy. But we pressed on to Eliot while dave limped to Bramwell.
We arrived at Eliot and had nearly set up when we were met by a family who said we were in there spot so after a bit of arguing we packed up and moved as it turns out i had the wrong site number in my memory. So take 2 we set up and then head to the saucepan for a quick  dip before tea its already 6pm but still quite warm .This place truly is an oasis. Then tea and bed we were allstuffed and   disappointed with  dave having to leave.
At 10.45 I was awoken to "hey are you in the wrong spot ".I didn't know if i was dreaming then i hear "its the Filbeys , its ok bub its just dave". I jumped up and so did ron they fixed his car in weipa we showed dave his site then then went back to bed the clan was complete again.

Monday 3 June 2013

Brisbane to Babinda

Well we haven't blogged in some months but will endeavour to fill you all in a little.
So we start with Bren filling in for 2 weeks at R&J Batteries in Stapylton . This was great for him however a very different experience for the kids and I.The caravan park that we stayed at was very dodgy with the kids meeting some very strange families but you get what you pay for $150 pw wasn't to bad. On the Sunday we drove to the eagle farm Markets, this was great so much fresh produce was very  delicious. then we head back to Alexandra hills to have lunch with my cousin Debbie who i haven't seen in years. this was the best day so good to see her and her boys and meet her new partner and i even got to speak to My Uncle Norm was great. So to jump ahead we packed up the camper on Brens last day so we were ready to leave when he got home from work. So at 6pm we were on the road to Biloela to pic up a bash plate, we stop about 70kms out at a rest area at 2am. Up and off to pick up plate then on to Townsville we were 100km short Bowen for coffee and ice-cream and on we press we camped at home hill comfort stop at midnight it was packed.
Today is our run to Cairn or 70 kms out a place called Babinda we only have 300ish kms to drive so we  cruise along with lunch in Ingham at alovely park then on to Babinda to set up and wait for my family to arrive. This free camp is great clean and new although they could do with more loos.

MONDAY 17th JUNE 2013
Its 9am and its already Hot and muggy so we decide to head to Josephine Falls and the boulders. The Falls are so beautiful and Brenden and the Kids had a ball swimming across and sliding down the rock into the cold pool below. I was taken back however when a Chinese man nearly drown in front of me, he had to be saved by an African turns out he couldn't swim and the cold water was too much.At the Boulders its a shallow swimming area with a few walk we walk to devils gate which was just beautiful the power of the water churning through those rocks is scary. On specking to David they are going to drive most of the night so they can get here earlier they end up stopping at blue-water free camp and sleep in their cars as its pack. I cant wait to see them in the morning and i cant sleep as i keep in touch with them as they drive. i will continue this in a new blog called Cape York 2013.
