Alice springs to Hugh river ( west macdonnell ranges )

Another early morning but I let Corinna brew our morning fix as I was stuffed as young Shahla had forgotten her iPod password and to fix it it took me nearly 3 hours and an Internet download to fix while everyone slept , but I passed the time in between playing pocket planes on the iPad lol.
It was nearly 8 am when I got out to my awaaitng cuppa the. I set off to make bacon and egg sangas in the camp kitchen where we met up yet again with the same travellers who I think we may meet a few mores times this week as our itinerary was similar .
Packed up and we seemed to have a bit of room in the car which was a real treat .
After we hitched the camper I scampered off for a quick shower and shave then we took off into town to get  gas in the camper and some advise from the tourist info in the Todd st mall .
Handy info was gained from the tourist info as is typical in many towns we have visited in the last 18 months .
On the way back to the car we picked up yet another novel for Ej then Pointed  the caravan of love towards Simpson Gap and a quick walk down through the gap which still had a scattering of water puddles in it , what a lovely little spot .
The next side trip was to Stanley Chasm and even though it was just past  the magical midday hour we still we excited with the walk along to the chasm and some great snaps and a educational talk with the rangers who pointed us towards our free camp for the night here on the Hugh river not far from the Chasm .

We setup early to make the most of the day and to ease the driving load on myself , and within the hour we had a decent pile of firewood and camper setup where we all had some relaxing time exploring th large dry riverbed before stoking the fire and starting our dinner of apricot chicken .
After dinner it was journal and kicking back by the roaring fire .
